FORMER SLAVE ORIGINS ACCORDING TO REVEREND WILLIAM TROY
As demonstrated from this map above, slaves who found freedom in Windsor and Amherstburg came from a diverse range of places. Notably, most originate from the southern United States: North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. Significantly, Missouri was the only non-southern state mentioned in Williams's work.
Most slaves fled from Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia, as each state had three or more slaves hailing from these areas.
